FAQ
Questions and answers on BIM data, BIM platform, requirements for manufacturers and much more
Portal Overview
Anyone involved in BIM processes, such as planners, architects, property managers, building owners, specialised tradespeople, etc. can use the data free of charge.
More than 25 manufacturers from the field of technical building equipment are already represented. Participation is possible for all manufacturers and associations at any time, regardless of association affiliation.
- On this platform, alphanumeric data is linked with geometric data so that all digital technical product data for calculation, CAD design or procurement can be downloaded free of charge.
- There are more than 1.5 million data sets available.
- The platform provides you with BIM data that can be processed in various TGA/CAD systems.
- A connection to well-known software providers and cooperation with the well-known platform is currently being set up so that manufacturers’ data can be made available and managed centrally and automatically.
Technical questions
Based on the existing standardised data formats such as REVIT, IFC, DWG, DXF or STEP, other formats are available to you, more than 40 different formats in total.
Individual settings can be used to select country ranges, if available.
Various collaborations with the manufacturers of MEP programmes are being sought. In this context, the processes for updating data are being optimised.

Manufacturer
- Any manufacturer in the field of technical building equipment can participate in the project.
- Participants must pay an annual project contribution. This will be used for the further development of the platform and marketing. Details can be requested via the contact section.
- The costs for data provision, data preparation and hosting are negotiated individually between the manufacturer and the service provider: please get in touch with us if you require further information.
- At the beginning of the project, VDI or PDT files are provided directly to the service providers CADENAS (PDT/VDI) and Rubicon (VDI).
- The provision of the data in the appropriate format, via Rubicon or CADENAS, is a prerequisite for participation in QualityBIM.
- The subsequent standardisation of data deliveries to the platform and coordinated test routines should enable the market requirements for current BIM data in the various TGA/CAD systems or BIM portals to be efficiently facilitated by the industry.
Data quality
- Check routines are already available to assess data quality. In conjunction with the further development of the platform, these test criteria will be refined.
- Good data quality is ensured in individual workshops between the manufacturers and service providers after the initial data delivery.
- The main responsibility for data maintenance lies with the manufacturers, who supply high-quality and complete product data.
- The creation of geometry data and any additional data maintenance is carried out by the service providers, in accordance with the respective individual agreements between the manufacturer and service provider.
Of course, the ownership rights always remain with the respective data supplier (manufacturer) as well as with you personally, provided that you have registered as a user with your personal data on this platform.
